Background

NAVER's Green Dot is the app's smart-search button: eight entries in a wheel at the bottom of the home screen, barely used. Our team's testing with NAVER found the reasons structural, not a matter of discovery.

The three findings: inconsistent Green Dot results, structural disconnect from the search bar, and no switching between inputs

What I made

Smart search stops being a destination and becomes the other end of the search bar. Eight scattered entries collapse into three inputs, Lens, Voice and Music, switchable because they share one bar. Results render in the bar.

Multimodal

Text search assumes you know the name of the thing. When a query stalls, the bar offers the camera instead, and typed text can qualify the capture.

Outcome

The Green Dot sits inside the right edge of NAVER's search bar today, the arrangement this project argued for. What is documented is narrower: the AI search scenarios appeared in NAVER's ’22 Search Colloquium, in the “Future of NAVER Search” session.
